The Nouveau Printemps festival returns for a second edition from May 30 to June 30. Its objective is to invite an artist each year to bring their creative vision to a district of the city. This year, it is the Carmes/Saint-Étienne district which is being honored by filmmaker and author Alain Guiraudie. For this new edition, the event brings together around twenty contemporary artists who, together, offer to explore the neighborhood from a creative angle through a unique journey. p>
A festival of contemporary creation
In 2023, Printemps de Septembre became Le Nouveau Printemps and invited designermatali crassetto invest in the Saint-Cyprien district. While the first edition imagined by Matali Crasset was interested in living things and communities, that of Alain Guiraudie, author and director, plunges us into the uncertainties of a fantasized future, between lightness and worry with the desire to question the codes in force, to renew the idea of beauty, or to blur the boundaries between beauty and ugliness.
The artists have taken up this proposition and offer works on the border between reality and science fiction, the ideal and the illusory. The invited artists usevaried techniques and materials, theirinspirations are diverseand mix science and spirituality. Carrying a message, their creations invite you to question yourself...
After the simple representation of the world, it is a long-standing challenge in the art of bringing together the ideal and the real, the mythical and the prosaic, the dream and the reality, to even make them collide. Alain Guiraudie

Art, at least the one that interests me, seeks to question the codes in force, renew the idea of beauty, or to blur the boundaries between beauty and ugliness. - Alaine Guiraudie
