Watch out for the show, it's going to be a blast! On November 8 and 9, 2024, the Zénith Toulouse Métropole will host the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships for the first time since their existence. A high-level competition that brings together, every year, the 120 best sports lumberjacks in the world. A rare event not to be missed and to discover with the family!
A first in France for the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships
This is a first in the history of France and therefore of Toulouse! On November 8 and 9, 2024, the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships will take place at the Zénith Toulouse Métropole. For two days of pure madness, more than 120 sports logging athletes from all over the world will make the Ville Rose vibrate to the sounds of chainsaws, axes and even huge saws...
A competition that promises to be epic - the techniques are based on traditional logging methods - open to all audiences and for which places are already available online.
The Stadium Toulouse official partner
The 120 experienced professionals, pumped up and trained to handle this type of tool (and the wood that needs to be cut) will act under the watchful eye of the emblematic personalities of Stade Toulousain, official partner of the event and present for the occasion.
For Didier Lacroix, President of Stade Toulousain: "Sports logging is a discipline that proudly upholds the values of perseverance, team spirit, respect and conviviality; values that are also deeply rooted in the culture of rugby in France and at Stade Toulousain". And for Thibaud Flament, player at Stade Toulousain: "These world championships in France are a good thing for the development of this sport in France. I hope we will go as far as possible in the competition!".

The French team is here to defend its title!
No respite for these strong men because during these 24 hours of fierce competition, they will gather for physically and technically demanding events, in teams (created in 2010) and individuals (created in 2005)... and will be watched by nearly 11,000 excited spectators (but perhaps not as muscular as the champions in question).
- The individual competition will bring together the 2024 national champions from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States as well as the eight best national champions from Europe. Here, participants will compete in two events with a chainsaw, three with an axe, and one with a saw.
- The team format, in which the French team will participate among around twenty competing teams, is a competition during which four athletes compete compete in elimination duels on four relay events: the stock saw, the underhand chop, the single buck and the standing block chop.
Created in 1985 in the United States, the STIHL Timbersports ® competitions arrived in Europe in 2000 and the next season is therefore (highly) awaited in the heart of Toulouse! So will the French team, which finished in 7th place in the world rankings during the last world championships in Stuttgart, reach the Top 3 by playing at home? See you on November 8 and 9 at the Zénith to find out!
