The Orchester national du Capitole announces its new season: new Musical Director, varied programming, return to tour…

The Orchester national du Capitole de Toulouse is in breathtaking form! Last season, the concert attendance rate was 90% and there were 2,700 subscribers. It is in this momentum that the 2024-2025 season is unveiled, punctuated by a new Musical Director designated, a varied program accessible to all audiences, but also strong>a return to tour beyond the Pink City

The first season of the young prodigy Tarmo Peltokoski

Chef d The 24-year-old Finnish orchestra, composer and pianist, it is Tarmo Peltokoski who will set the tempo for this new season as the new designated Musical Director. He will direct a certain number of works to begin with, with the team hoping to see him present more in the following years. Because the young prodigy already has a striking alchemy with the orchestra with whom he shares the stage. For this premiere, he explains“It’s a simple program, I put all my favorite works in this season”.

Indeed , Peltokoski is keen to defend all repertoires with the same intensity, which is why this season will be of great diversity.

A varied program

At program, compositions byworld-famous musicians such as Mozart, Tchaikovsky, < strong>Beethoven, Debussy… Tributes to great musical figures, notably Gabriel Fauré and his Requiem or Maurice Ravel and his bolero are also expected. More popular themes are also there, with a cine-concert of Star Wars at the Zénith, a musical event on artificial intelligence in partnership with the Quai des Savoirs, tributes to Ennio Morricone or even to Claude Nougaro. On the program, the youngest will also have the chance to share a special moment with the orchestra, for example by embarking on a police investigation with "The Big Bad Fox" or for a World Tour with "The Carnival of the Animals ".

Diversity which is found in the choice of guests, with the return of the Russian conductor Tugan Sokhiev, the renowned Marie Jacquot, in passing by Lambert Wilson, Alex Vizorek or even Renaud Capuçon…

Happy Hour, family concerts, meetings...

The Orchestra also plans a large number of events in different formats that adapt to a wide spectrum of spectators! The Happy Hour sessions allow, for example, < strong>discover, through an hour of concert, the instruments that make up the orchestra. “It’s an opportunity to highlight the trombone, the cello, the bassoon… It’s a series that has really found its audience this year.” says Jean-Baptiste Fra, general delegate of the Orchester du Capitole. Classes at the Toulouse academy can familiarize themselves with the symphonic world through educational concerts. Claire Roserot de Melin, general director of the Etablissement public du Capitole explains “We have been working for decades to reach the youngest audiences, so that everyone in Toulouse can have an experience with the orchestra.”

An approach that is bearing fruit, sincelast season, 23% of the audience was under 27 years old! The formats are inclusive, such as the Tous les matins d'Orchestre system which is aimed at adults with disabilities and which is run by music therapists and musicians.

Return of tours in Europe and Occitania

This season is marked by the return of the Orchestra on the road to tours strong>! “It’s a big announcement, we haven’t left since 2019 because of Covid, it’s always a very important moment” rejoices Jean-Baptiste Fra. The Orchester national du Capitole will perform in France, in Paris and Aix-en-Provence but also internationally and will travel throughout Germany, with dates to Hamburg or even Berlin. The musicians will also travel to Occitanieand will delight music lovers from Carcassonne, Montpellier, Tarbes and many others... The opportunity to showcase the excellence of French music and its performers. p>

Partnerships with key Toulouse cultural venues

Beyond taking place at the Halle aux Grains, the Orchestra will perform in major cultural venues in the Pink City. It works in particular in collaboration with La Cinémathèque and offers three film concerts, including one around the famous Chaplin film, The Great Dictator. A mix between cinema and music will also take place at the Zénith, with a cosmic evening that will delight Star Wars fans. Exceptional concerts are also scheduled at the Saint-Sernin Basilica and the ThéâtreDeLaCité.

Prices preferential rates and subscriptions for all

Accessibility is one of the key words of the Orchester du Capitole. This is why it has different prices and subscriptions that adapt to all budgets: €5 for those under 27 and job seekers, – 50% for children accompanied by their parents… Custom-made “free” subscriptions, but also “Maestro” and “Crescendo” packages with concert selections. A multitude of other options can be found via the ticket office.
