Operas return on the Capitole stage
This 2024/2025 season, entitled The Enchanted Way, is marked by the return of works that have not been given to the general public for yearsin the grounds of the Opéra national du Capitole. Indeed, Nabucco considered "Verdi's first great success, a wild, brutal, free work; a beautiful self-portrait of the composer" by Christophe Ghristi (the artistic director of the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse since September 2017); Orphée aux Enfers by Jacques Offenbach, or the fairy opera in four parts; The Ghost Ship is “a very important creation in the career of Richard Wagner”; or even Adrienne Lecouvreur, “this very beautiful creation, with a very “liberty” style”, will make their comeback after years of absence. Real monuments!
Another highlight on the opera side: Handel's most famous work, Julius Caesar, will be given for the first time at the Capitol . The opportunity to discover, in the words of Christophe Ghristi, “an extremely beautiful, very precious and spectacular universe”. 3h50 of intense musicality not to be missed!

If on the opera side, the programming promises to be surprising, on the ballet side, it also promises some new and cutting-edge surprises and new creationslike Sémiramis/Don Juan “presented together for the first time” and Coppélia, “a great romantic ballet”. It is the artist Beate Vollack who takes on the role of new dance director this year, succeeding Kader Belarbi.
