Place Commune: this lively, supportive guinguette has become a must-see in the Bonnefoy district

Solidarity, gourmet and full of entertainment, the Place Commune guinguette has become in one year an essential meeting place in the Bonnefoy district.

A place of transitional urban planning

In the summer of 2023, the guinguette, "Place Commune" was built on rue des Jumeaux, at the bottom of the Faubourg de Bonnefoy. In this rapidly changing district, it has become a warm and supportive meeting place. Its colorful furniture and friendly atmosphere temporarily occupy the land intended for the construction of a future building.

"Place Commune is a hybrid proposition that hosts both a catering space, cultural activities and a solidarity program", explain the Place Commune teams on their website.

A true living space dedicated to its neighborhood, the project is led by Ligne Rouge, an events company wishing to "reinvent a circular and independent economy", in collaboration with the association La Cloche, which works against the exclusion of people in situations of precariousness.

Refreshments and catering at low prices

"Our intention: to keep it simple, good and affordable!" continue the Place Commune teams. On site, the refreshment bar serves soft drinks, craft and local beers as well as wine. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to midnight and from noon on Thursdays and Fridays.

On the kitchen side, the guinguette works with raw products, in collaboration with suppliers from the neighborhood. It offers a tapas menu that changes with the seasons. The specialty of the kitchen: burgers and fries. Note that everything is homemade! Every Tuesday, le Foodistan takes control of the kitchen and offers its homemade sushi at low prices.

Solidarity at the heart of the project

Before being a place to eat, Place Commune aims to be an open and family-friendly place to live promoting social, cultural and generational diversity. "There is no obligation for the public to consume in order to visit the place," specifies Place Commune.

In this sense, Place Commune offers every Thursday and Friday lunchtime a solidarity canteen: on the menu, a unique and vegetarian formula. "In terms of prices, we apply a free and conscious price policy, that is to say that everyone contributes according to their desires and means," adds Place Commune, which specifies that access is free and without reservation.

A rich program all summer long

To bring the place to life every day, Place Commune offers a rich and participatory program. At any time of the day, workshops, initiations, concerts, shows, various initiatives take place there... Eclectic events and accessible to all, since they are mostly free, at a free price or with a hat.
