From April 20 to May 5, 2024, several works by Banksy will take place in a high school in Toulouse. “Banksy Modeste Collection”, an exhibition led by the artist Béru, is unique, supportive and open to all. Definitely not to be missed, especially if you are a fan of the character and the street-art universe!
A high school transformed into a work of art
< p>He is undoubtedly the best-known (anonymous) graffiti artist in the world and a Toulouse high school will therefore dedicate some of its walls to him, notably those of the wood workshop. For 15 days, the Urbain Vitry professional high school will actually present more than 250 works and objects retracing Banksy's journey. So as not to miss this highlight of the season , meet from Saturday April 20 to Sunday May 5, 2024, every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with night stays until 10 p.m. on Saturdays April 20 and 4 May.
An exhibition in an unexpected place
The Banksy Modeste Collection, led by the artist François Bérardino (alias Béru), is therefore an exhibition which takes place where the public does not expect it: within a public school establishment located route de Launaguet, in the heart of the popular districts of the Pink City such as Izards, 3 Cocus, Borderouge. On the other hand, access is open to all: students, young people, seniors and other visitors from outside the place.
A traveling and supportive journey
After meeting Banksy in London on June 23, 2007, Béru began collecting objects and images that retrace the street artist's journey: illustrations on vinyl, stickers from stencils placed in the street, exhibition posters, postcards, drawings... So many finds that make it "an important collection today and which has been exhibited since July 2021 in turn in different cities in France", specifies the Town Hall of Toulouse, which indicates that this traveling exhibition has already brought together more than 200,000 people.
And to remain faithful to street art and free of Banksy, the exhibition is therefore 100% free, but donations are strongly expected by the organizers. An operation which makes it acultural and solidarity event, since the funds raised will be intended for all those who act for a more humane and fairer world.
You will have understood: fan of Banksy or simply curious, with family, lovers, friends or alone, this unique and ephemeral meeting organized off the trail beatenis an invitation to art not to be missed. Especially since each visitor-donor (regardless of the financial contribution) will be given the “collector” poster of the exhibition.
