La Maison Lagrive is an exhibition space located a stone's throw from Cahors Cathedral. This gallery house is home to the work of sculptor Marc Petit, but also hosts temporary exhibitions in the vaulted room of its basement.

In July 2019, Dany Conort transformed her house into an art gallery. On the banks of the Lot, this art agent created this showroom dedicated to the exhibition of Marc Petit's work: around a hundred original creations are there to discover. The works of the Lotois artist are also displayed alongside temporary exhibitions: Denis Jully, Victor Soren, Marie Morel, Patrick Loste have also hung their works on the walls.
All year round, the permanent exhibition in the showroom is accessible free of charge on request. During temporary exhibitions, it is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. This place can be explored freely, but Dany Conort remains present to provide details on the artists and their work: "I am happy to give explanations about the works, you just have to ask!", she explains.
Dany Conort met the artist Marc Petit about fifteen years ago: "I was touched, even troubled by the emotion that emanated from his works, and then I met Marc. A mysterious man, who, in his darkness, resembled his works,” she recalls. A meeting that reinforced her desire to host this space for presenting her work.
The work of Lotois Marc Petit in the spotlight
After forty years of career, the work of Marc Petit is recognized in the artistic world and his name is not unknown to art lovers. In 2015, his name came out on top in a survey of the 10 greatest living sculptors of today.
"My sculpture borrows from my Quercy origins the aridity of the limestone and the causse. It is economical in water and chiseled by the sun. To understand my approach and enter into my work, one must go beyond the dark image of the first glance. My questions are current and universal: they question the relationship to time, the absurdity of the human condition,” explains the artist Marc Petit
Marc Petit spent a large part of his youth in Cahors:"having an anchor point in his beloved city was obvious to him",explains Dany Conort. The Maison Lagrive, like a museum of his work, presents works from each period: from his youth to the most recent. You can discover all the facets of his work: bronze sculptures, furniture, drawings (inks, pastels and charcoals) are exhibited on the two floors. The garden is reserved for large formats. The pieces are regularly renewed and can be purchased.
"The tarot": his latest creations exhibited in September during a temporary exhibition
At the start of the school year, the artist's latest works (2023) will be on display in the showroom for a temporary exhibition: "The tarot". In this bronze series, Marc Petit revisits the 22 trumps of the tarot deck with his recognizable touch.
He will present his latest sculptures himself at the exhibition opening, on the weekend of September 7 and 8: a time for discussion and exchange with visitors.
