The agricultural show Les Pyrénéennes returns to Saint-Gaudens for its 13th edition. From September 19 to 22, Pyrenean agricultural know-how will be on display over 10,000m² of exhibition space: producers' markets, breed competitions, concerts and demonstrations are at the heart of the program. Free entry!
The biggest agricultural event in the Pyrenees
Every 3 years at the start of the school year, the agricultural show "Les Pyrénéennes"is held at the Parc des Expositions du Comminges in Villeneuve-de-Rivière. A meeting place for professionals from the agricultural world, the general public and schoolchildren, the show highlights the agricultural sectors of the entire Franco-Spanish and Andorran Pyrenees chain over four days.
“The goal is to come together around Pyrenean values and agriculture,” says Christophe Lafforgue, director of the show.
Expanded, the Les Pyrénéennes show is expecting 120,000 visitors this year. Admission is free for everyone!
Discovering know-how in 360°
In order to offer a "showcase of Pyrenees agriculture in its most complete form", explains Christophe Lafforgue, the show is organized into different areas. Visitors will be able to discover livestock, agricultural equipment and innovation, as well as the sustainable development center: "This last center will touch on all aspects: sustainable agriculture, development of agroecology, biodiversity, renewable energies... It will spread over six hectares" specifies the director of the show.
The aim of the show: an immersion in local agricultural know-how. What could be better than life-size demonstrations? Installation of cabins, summer pastures, demonstration of mini-transhumance and heliporting are planned.
Transmission at the heart of this edition
This edition leaves a special place for transmission: "We wanted to focus on the renewal of agricultural generations and on the transmission of our values in several aspects: our know-how, our resources, our culture..."
Thus, each part The show's main attraction had to meet a set of specifications to participate: provide a gateway around transmission and education. Treasure hunts, interactive maps, live demonstrations, explanations to the general public will be everywhere in the show. This aspect of transmission is not only aimed at children, adults are also concerned!
Producers' market and catering
Learn? Yes, but while enjoying yourself! Visitors will be able to wander between the 80 tempting displays of local producers set up in the Village des Pyrénéennes. Cheeses, meats, honeys... But also artisans working with wool, leather, soaps, etc. For this 13th edition, the number of exhibitors has doubled, thus offering a tour of the Franco-Andorran Pyrenees: from the Basque Country to the Mediterranean Pyrenees.
Direct catering stands are also planned.
A festive moment
More than a show, Christophe Lafforgue speaks of a "great popular festival, which will never stop", for four days and three nights. Around forty groups will liven up all the areas of the show during the day: equestrian shows, songs and dances will punctuate the show until the evening, when many folk music concerts are scheduled until the closing of the show's festive areas at 2:45 a.m.
