Domaine Rey, a breeding ground for black pigs from Bigorre located in Loubersan in the Gers, is opening its pop-up restaurant and is continuing the festivities throughout the summer: barbecues and good humor are on the agenda. Something to share the joys of life on the farm, while discovering farms that respect animals and the environment.
Tapas bar, pop-up restaurant, barbecue evenings, blind test…
Marie and Nicolas Rey are keen to share the joys of life on the farm. That's why a pop-up restaurant opens its doors every year in the summer. Since May 24, you can enjoy dishes made from artisanal recipes based on Black Pork of Bigorre. "Guests will be able to enjoy oriental-style pork stir-fry with red rice, black pudding with apple compote, cheeses from local producers, not to mention our AOP Black Pork of Bigorre grills. " announces Marie Rey.
Domaine Rey also has a tapas bar and programs grill and live music evenings! Under a barn converted into a guinguette atmosphere, you can enjoy shareable platters with meat from the farm. "The Black Pork of Bigorre will be available to discover in all its forms, for example with fresh sausages, ribs, and chops" continues Marie Rey.
And this with music, since depending on the evening, groups of musicians, DJs, but also blind tests will be there to enjoy while having fun!
See you on Friday, July 12 for a blind test evening and on Wednesday, August 14 for an evening with grill platters to share with the presence of the group Shake'n Mat
Guided tours (from 17 h every day it is open) and small nature trails are also to be discovered! And for those who would like to take a little bit of the Domaine home with them, it has a boutique (and an e-boutique) where you will find fresh products, cooked dishes, gift boxes, etc.
A day of celebration at the farm on July 24
Domaine Rey is planning a party at the farm on July 24! Visitors will be able to spend a free day at the farm, punctuated by several activities. It will begin with a 7 km morning walk, led by a landscape reading and a discovery of the flora. Then from 11 a.m., the activities will begin with a master class on carving ham with a Black Pork of Bigorre bone, chainsaw wood carving, a demonstration of sheepdog breeding… And many other activities in a friendly and warm atmosphere!
At noon, for lunch, you can discover a local producers' market and choose directly from their stand what you fancy. In the evening, a big brazier evening with 400g Black Pork ribs from Bigorre grilled by Gueuleton Toulouse. The aperitif will be accompanied by music from the Bigourdans singers “Les Adishatz du Magnoac”. The rest of the evening will be hosted by “Monsieur Greg” and DJ Miry Muraro in the third part of the evening.
A breeding and production guaranteed by recognized know-how
Since 2010, Marie and Nicolas Rey have been at the head of a human-sized breeding of black pigs from Bigorre. The animals belong to a rare and local species of the Pyrenees. Committed to their way of working, the couple offers a range of fresh meats whose stages, which go from breeding to production, are guaranteed by recognized know-how. Domaine Rey advocates fundamental values, namely respect for animals and the environment.
"Our goal is to preserve biodiversity, two years ago we replanted 1000 trees, we also rehabilitated two ponds. We build nest boxes for swallows and falcons. We raise rare and endangered animals, so it is essential for us to act to preserve the environment. This is why we are working on a biodiversity discovery trail. " explains Marie Rey.
Indeed, the meat offered comes from pigs that have lived outdoors, all in compliance with the AOP quality specifications. It is therefore with a taste for local and passion that Domaine Rey welcomes you for the sunny days!
