The Toulouse Ekiden will take place on September 20, 2024 ! Relay race coming from the land of the rising sun, it will take place at night and will invite Toulouse residents to tour the Cartoucherie Ecodistrict. In total, they will cover a distance of 42.195 km. On site, festive entertainment will be available to enjoy asporty and friendly moment.
Ekiden, a traditional Japanese race
Born in 1917 in Japan, this type of long-distance relay race is inspired by the messengers who ran between Tokyo and Kyotoduring the Edo period. They relayed messages to each station in a spirit of cohesion.
It is in this same dynamic that the Toulouse residents will have to run as a team to try to achieve the best time best time. There will be 6 team members in total: the first relay runner will have to run 5 km, the second 10 km, the third 5 km, the fourth 10 km, the fifth 5 km and the last 7.195 km. In total, they will complete a42.195 km journey!
A relay to share between friends, colleagues, students, family...
Given its short distances, the experienced runnersbut also beginnerscan take part in the race! Women, men, young people (from 16 years old)… Everyone is invited to participate in Ekiden. In all, 300 teams are expectedi.e. 1,800 runners. The relays may be mixed (3 men and 3 women), female (6 women) or male (6 men). The challenge can be done with family, friends, students from the same school or even in a company. This announces a unique sporting and sharing moment, in addition to the fact that the event will be punctuated with festive activities.
A journey in the Cartoucherie Eco-district h2>
The start will be given at 7:15 p.m. for the first runners. Participants will then take turns through the route designed in a dynamic and sustainable space: the Cartoucherie Eco-districtwith a foray into the newly renovated Jardins du Barry. p>
The first runners will arrive around 9:45 p.m. and will be welcomed in a festive village! On the program: photobooth, music, light shows... Enough to enjoy a little comfort after exercise strong>. 100 volunteers and 3,000 people will be present in the heart of Les Hallesto experience the event together.
At 22 30 p.m., place on the podium: a prize ceremonywill be organized to reward the teams with the best spirit of cohesion!
