Its multi-colored facades have not gone unnoticed in Toulouse: doomed to be destroyed in July, the Babayaga House is playing overtime. This temple of street art will remain open until September.
3 floors, 17 rooms: 340 m² of art
Since April, the curious eyes of Toulouse residents and passers-by have been stopping at 114 rue de Cugnaux, in the Saint-Cyprien district. On the side of the road, a large, colorful building that looks like a fantastic mansion stands there, between two houses. Abandoned and awaiting destruction, the Salade Suprême association had another idea regarding the fate of this house. In recent months, it has become a must-see street art event in Toulouse.
Its three floors are divided into 17 exhibition rooms, which have become a temple of creations for around fifty artists: street art, painting, illustration, youth, design, video, tattooing, "maker"... A diversity that puts the spotlight on around fifty artists, mostly local, known or unknown.
A converted guinguette
At the back of the house is hidden a vast 600 m² garden, in which a guinguette has been converted. It allows visitors, artists and locals to meet and chat over a drink.
Events are regularly organized there: to not miss anything, follow the association Salade Suprême on Instagram
Open until September 7
The third place, which was supposed to close its doors on July 20 due to its future demolition for a real estate project, is playing overtime. The next construction project having been delayed, it is possible to visit Babayaga's house until September. The Babayaga house can only be visited on weekends (Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.). Admission is free.
