Attention to donut lovers! Florent Masgonty, originally from Toulouse and co-founder of Ô Donuts Toulouse, finds himself in the final of the 2024 French donut championship. See you on March 14 at the Parc des Expositions in Paris to find out if the pastry chef will (or not) bring the cut home!
A Toulouse resident in the final of the most gourmet competition in France
Two years after the first edition, the French donut championship, organized by Dawn Foods, is making its comeback on March 14, 2024 ,from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Porte de Versailles inParis. Among the 4 candidates selected to participate in the competition: Toulouse pastry chef Florent Masgonty and co-founder of the Ô Donuts boutique.
It was July 21, 2022 and at the age of 35 that he opened his shop (or rather his donut bar) near the quays of la Daurade. Since then, he has offered around ten recipes including a "Toulouse special" with blackcurrant and violet and all his creations have been a real success!

3 tests and 15 donuts to make
To win the famous title of French donut champion ( and the sum of €1,000) facing his three other opponents of the day, the latter will have to complete 3 new and more or less arduous tests:
- A technique: The "glazed donut" is the real classic American donut, very simple in appearance.
- A compulsory one: The "pastry donut" which mixes French and American pastry codes.
- A free one: The sweet and delicious "street food donut" capable to be easily carried and eaten by hand.
In total, 15 donuts will have to come out (1 per judge, therefore 5 per event) in just 2h30.
A jury made up of professionals and a young amateur!
Very heterogeneous, but also always very professional, the jury for the donut championship will have 5 members from 'different horizons: Niagalé Diallo, French Donut Champion 2022 and founder of Home Donuts, Paul Fedele, editor-in-chief of France Snacking, Laurent Estebe (Savours&Co), Alexandre Deschamps, International Application Manager at Dawn Foods as well as Diane, a 9-year-old donut lover.
On that day, more than the others, these donut lovers and professionals will have to stand out through their technique, their creativity and the marriage of flavors to enhance this little round treat. So, is it Florent Masgonty who will finish on the first step of the podium?
